Naomi Nix has spent the last two years covering race and income inequity as a senior reporter for The 74 — a national, nonprofit K-12 education news outlet. Previously, she served as the Newark city hall and education reporter for The Star-Ledger, the largest newspaper in New Jersey. In that role, Naomi led the newspaper’s coverage of the city’s first mayoral election after Sen. Cory Booker took office in Washington D.C. She also spent two years as a general assignment reporter for The Chicago Tribune.
Her work has also appeared in The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Atlantic, and Princeton Alumni Weekly. Naomi graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a certificate in African American studies. When she is not reporting, Naomi can often be found engrossed in a good book, geeking out on public radio, and experimenting (not always successfully) with new recipes.
