Naomi Nix is senior reporter for The 74, where she often writes about the intersection between race, income and education. Her work is motivated by a desire to blend powerful stories of families and educators on the frontlines of America's school systems with rigorous analyses and investigations into the policies that shape the education of millions of students each day.
Prior to joining The 74, Naomi was the Newark politics and education for The Star-Ledger, the largest newspaper in New Jersey. In that role, Naomi led the newspaper’s coverage of the city’s first mayoral election after Sen. Cory Booker took office in Washington D.C. Naomi also worked for The Chicago Tribune as a general assignment reporter.
Her work has also appeared in The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Atlantic. Naomi graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a certificate in African American studies.
